Dangun Oversized Tee – Black
The next drop from Seoul Collective (서울의 컬렉티브): an oversized black tee with the Dangun founding myth across the back. Hwanung descends from heaven in the clouds, the sacred tree rises on the mountain, and below, the bear who became a woman steps out of the cave with mugwort and garlic at her feet. Their son Dangun is said to have founded Gojoseon, Korea's first kingdom. The front carries the small Seoul Collective logo.
The Story
Korea's founding myth is recorded in the 13th-century Samguk Yusa. Hwanung, son of the heavenly lord Hwanin, descended to a sacred tree on Mount Taebaek. A bear and a tiger begged to become human, so he gave them mugwort and garlic and told them to avoid sunlight for 100 days. The tiger gave up, but the bear kept the taboo and became a woman, Ungnyeo. Their son Dangun is said to have founded Gojoseon, traditionally dated to 2333 BC. This design shows Hwanung in the clouds, the sacred tree, and the bear-woman beside the bear in the cave. Korea celebrates National Foundation Day every October 3.
